Location:
Petersburg is located in the delta of the Neva river on the shore of the Gulf of Finland on the 60th parallel of the northern latitude and is the biggest megapolis in the world situated so far north. Exciting white nights start on May 26 and end on July 16. The longest days are June 21-22 (18 hours 53 minutes) when the sun just barely gets behind the horizon.
Population: 1 January 2003 - about 4 565 000 people.

1400 sq. km. The distance from north to south is 44 km, from west to est - 25 km.
